3/24/2020 - Election Information Update -

NOTICE - Pledge of Allegiance

Executive Order 105 signed by Governor Murphy on March 19, 2020 states that “candidates who have not already signed and notarized an Oath of Allegiance shall attach a signed Pledge of Allegiance to their petitions containing the same language as prescribed in N.J.S.A. 41:1-1”. If you are a candidate and you have not already signed and notarized an Oath of Allegiance, please complete a Pledge of Allegiance.

Additionally, Executive Order 105 states “The verification requirements of N.J.S.A. 19:23-11, insofar as they are not included on the online form created by the Secretary of State, shall be suspended for petitions due by 4:00 p.m. on March 30, 2020.” Please be advised that the Affidavit of Circulator page does not need to be notarized. A circulator would still need to Print and Sign their name and include their address.

NOTICE - Nominating Petition Filing

Effective immediately as a measure to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, nominating petitions for FEDERAL AND STATE OFFICES can be emailed to the following email addresses or faxed to the number listed below. If you are a candidate running for a County office, you must provide your petition to your County Clerk. If you are a candidate running for a Municipal office, you must provide your petition to your Municipal Clerk.

If you don’t have the means to email or fax your nominating petitions, in person appointments to drop off your petitions can be scheduled on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the lobby at 20 West State Street, Trenton.   Appointments can be scheduled by calling 609-218-0463.

Please be advised that we can currently only accept emails up to 25 megabytes. If you need to send an email larger than 25 megabytes, please send multiple emails. Blank pages should not be included to reduce the size of the document.

Original petitions will still need to be provided to the Division of Elections.
