Due to the worldwide pandemic created by the Covid-19 virus, the Harding Township Civic Association has elected not to go forward with the 2020 Memorial Day Parade. After reviewing all of the relevant facts and health care concerns involving large gatherings, particularly those affecting high-risk members of the public, and the potential to expose residents to the virus, HTCA decided to cancel the Memorial Day parade effective immediately.
Consideration was given to postponing the event, but the decision was made that the purpose of this holiday is to honor fallen servicemen and women who have died in defense of our country. Accordingly, a modified ceremony consisting of the Pledge of Allegiance the placement of the memorial wreath will be placed in front of the War Memorial, and “Taps” will be played in Memorial Park on Monday, May 25th at 10 AM.
Current Emergency Orders issued by Governor Murphy prohibit all public gatherings of more than 4 people. To permit residents to participate in this event, the HTCA will attempt to “live stream” the modified ceremony, including the pledge of allegiance, the placement of the wreath and the playing of Taps on the HTCA Facebook Page and the Harding Police Department Facebook page. Please join us on Facebook on Monday, May 25th to honor our war dead.
Please do not attempt to participate in person as all gatherings of 4 or more people are prohibited
