Harding Advisories/Notices

6/1/2020 - Hurricane Hazards Awareness and Preparedness - Hurricane Season starts June 1

The beginning of the Atlantic hurricane season on June 1 serves as a reminder that New Jersey residents and organizations should be aware of hurricane hazards and how to prepare for them.

Hazards such as high winds, storm surges, high tides and rip currents, heavy rains, inland flooding, and tornadoes pose a threat to life and property.

The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management encourages everyone to review the “Hurricane Survival Guide for New Jersey” and take necessary actions to prepare their families and homes.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency also has updated guidelines to prepare for hurricane season during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hurricane preparedness includes planning for those with special needs, as well as pets.

New Jersey’s Special Needs Registry for Disasters allows residents with access and functional needs to share information with emergency response agencies, which are then able to better serve them in a disaster or other emergency.
